Internship International Law – Human Rights Law
Magna Carta is involved in various projects in the field of human rights promotion and seeks two research interns to assist the Faculty Directors and Magna Carta’s research team. Tasks include research, contributing to the drafting of academic papers and reports, and any other task that may arise. The ideal candidates must have a degree in law, international relations, or political science with excellent knowledge of International Humanitarian Law.
Internship International Law – Human Rights – Latin America (must speak excellent Spanish and/or Portuguese)
Magna Carta is developing new projects in Latin America and plans to set up an academic network in the Region working on the American Convention of Human Rights. The intern will assist the Faculty Directors in developing these new projects and will conduct research on the Inter-American System of Human Rights.
Internship International Law – Transnational Law – History and Theory of International Law and Relations
Magna Carta has launched a program dealing with the history of international law and relations and the evolution of international law facing globalization. In order to assist Faculty Directors in charge of the program, Magna Carta seeks one research intern. The ideal candidate must have a degree in law, philosophy, international relations or history of law and must be fluent in French and/or in English and have a good command of German.
Internship International Law - Human Rights - Terrorism (must be excellent in English)
Magna Carta is involved in various projects concerning the fight against terrorism and the rule of law. The intern will work on these issues under the supervision of the Faculty Directors. Tasks include research on the fight against international terrorism (academic articles, reports, case law), organization of seminars and conferences, and contributing to the drafting of academic papers and reports.
Internship International Humanitarian Law - Human Rights
The Magna Carta Institute is involved in a project concerning the changing face of conflict, the challenges to International Humanitarian Law posed thereby, the history of the laws of war and the protection of the civilian population during armed conflict.
The interns will work on these issues under the supervision of the Faculty Directors and Magna Carta’s research team. Tasks include research on these issues, contributing to the drafting of academic papers and reports, and any other task that may arise. Magna Carta seeks two research interns for this assignment.
The ideal candidates must have a degree in law, international relations, or political science with excellent knowledge of International Humanitarian Law. They must be absolutely fluent in French and have excellent command of English.

Internship International Law - Human Rights - Editing and Marketing (must speak French and English)
Magna Carta seeks an intern who will work under the supervision of the Program Manager and the Faculty Directors to develop a coherent and solid marketing strategy for the Institute. Tasks and activities include working on all aspects of marketing and communication plans for the Institute as well as the editing of Magna Carta’s documents and reports. She/he will also update Magna Carta’s human rights and international law database.
Internship International Law - Human Rights - Fund Raising & Management Assistance
The intern will work under the supervision of the Financial and Program Manager and the Executive Directors to identify funding opportunities for the Institute.

The Program
Magna Carta welcomes a limited number of interns throughout the year. The internships focus on research in international law or human rights sensu lato. Magna Carta’s interns are an integral part of the research team. They are expected to work on research or training projects, including an individual project, under the supervision of Magna Carta’s faculty directors. Interns are encouraged to attend programs and staff meetings and to take part in the activities of the Institute.
Academic excellence
A strong interest in academic research and international law is essential. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, able to work under pressure, and be aware that the scientific work produced by any of Magna Carta’s team members, including interns, must be of the highest quality. Magna Carta is dedicated to academic excellence and its research, training programs and expertise briefs must be of outstanding quality. Interns must have good computer skills and excellent editing skills.
Language
The office’s official working language is French. The candidate is not required to be fluent in French, but must be willing to learn and practice the language. Interns may be required to work in English or Spanish, depending on their field of interest and the nature of their assignment. Interns must be fluent in either French or English.
